COVID-19 Business Grant Programs

Metis Financial Corporation BC (MFCBC), in partnership with Indigenous Services Canada and Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC), delivered COVID-19 Business Support Grants for Métis entrepreneurs in British Columbia.

These Business Support Grants provided resources for businesses that did not qualify for the COVID-19 financial relief programs that were initiated earlier in the pandemic.

The Business Support Grants provided Métis microbusinesses, small, medium, new businesses, and community owned businesses in BC that had been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic with financial supports in the form of grants.

COVID-19 Business Support Fund: Microbusiness Grant – CLOSED

Métis microbusinesses such as home-based businesses, sole proprietorships, small family-based businesses qualify for grants. The COVID-19 pandemic has had severe impacts on Métis entrepreneurs and their families that rely on the income generated from those businesses.

The first element of the MFCBC COVID-19 Microbusiness Grant program provides Métis microbusinesses that have seen a decrease in business because of COVID-19 with access to a grant to support ongoing operations. Contributions received through this grant program are intended to fund reasonable operating expenses and help to ensure that microbusinesses can sustain operations during the economic recovery phase.

The second element of the MFCBC Microbusiness COVID Assistance Grant program provides Métis microbusinesses established prior to March 2020 with grants that will give them access to skilled professionals that can provide expert advice and services to support business recovery and adaptation.  Advisory services include business and financial planning.C

COVID-19 Business Support Fund: Small, Medium, and New Business Grant – CLOSED

Please note: the MFCBC Small, Medium, and New Business COVID Support Grant program has been fully subscribed and ended as scheduled on February 28th, 2021.

COVID-19 Business Support Fund: Community Business Grant – CLOSED

The first element of the MFCBC Community Business COVID Assistance Grant program provides Métis community owned businesses that have seen a decrease in business because of COVID-19 with access to grants to support ongoing operations.

Contributions received through this assistance program are intended to fund reasonable operating expenses and help to ensure that community businesses can sustain operations during the economic recovery phase. 

The second element of the MFCBC Community Business COVID Assistance provides Métis community businesses established prior to March 2020 with grants that will give them access to skilled professionals who can provide assessment, advisory and recovery services.
