Across British Columbia, Métis citizens are building businesses, purchasing homes, and investing in their communities — and behind much of this momentum is the Métis Financial Corporation of BC (MFC). As a trusted financial arm supporting the economic aspirations of Métis people in the province, MFC has proven to be a powerful ally in breaking down financial barriers and opening new doors.

Investing in Métis Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurship is one of the strongest tools for economic independence, and MFC has consistently prioritized helping Métis entrepreneurs turn their dreams into reality.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many Métis-owned businesses faced unprecedented challenges. In response, MFC distributed just over $8 million in grant funding to 351 Métis businesses across the province. This support not only helped keep these businesses afloat during uncertain times but also preserved jobs and local economies within Métis communities.

Beyond emergency relief, MFC continues to support business growth through its Business Loan Contribution Program (AEP). Through this ongoing program, Métis entrepreneurs have received over $2.9 million in grant funding, helping launch new ventures, expand existing operations, and build generational wealth.

Opening the Doors to Home Ownership

For many, owning a home is a cornerstone of stability and long-term prosperity. The First Time Home Buyer Program is making this dream a reality for Métis citizens. To date, the program has provided $2.8 million in grant contributions towards down payments and closing costs, allowing 123 Métis Citizens to step into their first homes.

This isn’t just about real estate — it’s about empowerment, equity, and the pride of home ownership.

Supporting Community-Driven Economic Development

MFC also supports large-scale economic growth through community investment. As part of the Indigenous Community Business Fund (ICBF), MFC distributed just over $320K to Métis communities working on economic development initiatives. These funds have been instrumental in supporting community-owned businesses, strategic planning, and long-term economic sustainability.

A Legacy of Métis Prosperity

The impact of the Métis Financial Corporation of BC is clear — and growing. Whether it’s a young entrepreneur opening their first storefront, a family turning the key to their first home, or a community launching a new economic development initiative, the MFC is helping Métis people across BC achieve lasting success.

As Métis citizens continue to build a strong economic future rooted in resilience, culture, and community, MFC stands as a proud partner every step of the way.
