Sophie Morigeau Women’s Entrepreneurship Program
This program is designed to reduce barriers to accessing financing and provide business supports to Métis women entrepreneurs.
After you apply, you will be contacted by one of our business support officers to assess eligibility. Once eligibility is confirmed, you will work one-on-one with one of our business support officers and consultants to complete a program workbook to assess the viability of the funding request.
Funding options
We offer 3 different lending options
$25,000 total project cost
$20,000 total project cost
$15,000 total project cost
- The total project cost is made up of a loan, grant, and equity portion
- Each loan is accompanied by a 30% grant to be applied at the end of the loan term, if eligible. The grant is not stand-alone and must be accompanied by an MFC loan
- Each project requires a 5% or 10% cash equity contribution from the client (this is the client’s direct contribution to their project costs, and will not be sent to or from MFC)
- Starting interest rate: 7.5%
- 4-year term in which grant funding is applied after the loan portion has been fully repaid, provided all loan payments are made on time
- In the event of loan refinancing or lump-sum payments, the grant funding will not be applied, and the full amount will be repayable
- Approved applicants will receive one full day of consulting services with one of our consultants, with the option to purchase additional consulting time at a discounted rate.
- Interest Only Period: Interest Only Payments (Months 1-12):
- Blended Repayment Period: Blended Principal and interest payments until loan portion is fully repaid. (Approximately months 13-36)
- Grant Forgiveness Period: The remaining balance is covered by the grant, resulting in the loan being fully paid out as long as payments are made on time and all conditions of the loan are met. (Approximately month 37)
