Métis Women’s Entrepreneur Program Overview & Eligibility
The Métis Women’s Entrepreneur Program Loan Details
- Maximum Loan Amount is $50,000
- Maximum term for the loan is 5 years
- You must be able to contribute 5% cash equity to your project
- Security may be required and is at the discretion of the Métis Financial Corporation of BC
- A forgivable portion may be approved and will be at the discretion of MFCBC
In order to be approved for MWE funding, applicants need to meet the following eligibility requirements
- You must be 18 years of age or older
- You must be a Métis Woman
- You must have been a resident of British Columbia for a minimum of 6 months
- Your business is at least 51% Métis owned and controlled by a woman
- You must be able to contribute 5% cash equity to your project
- You must have reasonable credit as a credit check is performed for each loan
- Security may be required and is at the discretion of the Métis Financial Corporation of BC
- You must have a business plan that demonstrates the viability of the business and the capacity to repay the loan
Eligible costs Under the MWE Program Include
- Capital asset purchases (including machinery/equipment, leasehold/property improvements)
- Office and equipment rental
- Employee salaries and benefits (excluding owner’s salary)
- IT/Software license purchase
- Professional services (accounting and legal services)
- Inventory/supplies
- Intellectual property (patents, copyrighting, trademark)
- Working capital (funds to be used for day-to-day expenses such as payroll, lease payments, accounts management, rent, overhead costs)
- Digital (including website/e-commerce development)
- Marketing, advertising, business promotion
- Employee training
- Business start-up costs (legal fees, business incorporation fees, business plan preparation)
